Round 7 Part 5: Riedmayer-Landgraab Estate (2053-2057)

Beata is 76, Mal is 73, Malcolm is 38, Theresa is 35, Cole is 4, Melinda and Michael are 0.

narrated by Theresa Dejackome

Well, the rugrat population around here is definitely in decline--Cole turned 5 about three years ago. (Cole is a bit of a stretch as a nickname, I know, but what are we supposed to call him when his father and grandfather have the same name?)

He got into private school, of course. The Landgraab family has a pretty impressive reputation around here and the headmaster is an old family friend.

The year after that, the twins had their own milestone birthday, turning 2.

I really can't say I was sad to see it. Babies are not my cup of tea.

Now they're old enough to entertain themselves a bit--or entertain each other. That's the nice thing about twins, I suppose.

Mom (yeah, I gave up and started calling her Mom--everybody else does) watches them during the day, while everybody is at work and school and Dad is running his host of businesses.

The only downside is that she encourages Cole in his flights of fancy--or maybe believes them herself! He made up a crazy story last year about finding a genie lamp on the front porch.

And a few months later he had this running fantasy about a werewolf that would come to visit and let him pet it. I told him he probably shouldn't pet werewolves if he doesn't want to get bit.

Anyway, my career is really taking off now that everybody's sleeping through the night. I snagged a position as city planner earlier this year. I don't know if I'm going to stick with it or go for something a little more fun, though.

Notes:

- You'll notice from the link in the title that I've decided to start the tradition of using not-really-related song titles as post titles. Whether I continue it or not is anybody's guess.

- There's not much of a storyline here because I was really expecting Beata to die this round, but she's hanging in there--I guess she wants to meet her first great-grandchild come Sarah and Douglas' update.

  1. Always nice to see Malcolm (and the other Malcolms)!
I like it how you have encorporated the genie lamp and a werewolf :-)

    1. I really want to see how far I can go with the Malcolm Landgraab name. :)

  2. I actually think Cole is a great nickname for Malcolm and totally intuitive! Thinking up yet another nickname for Cole's hypothetical future son might be more of a challenge though. ;)

    1. Thanks!

I have a couple of options already thought out for Malcolm VII, actually. Since Malcolm IV will be partying with Grim by then, I might just go right back to "Mal", or I might pick something based on Roman numbers. You know how sometimes people will go by Trip if they're the third of something? That works for everything *but* six. You can't call a four-year-old Sex for short. ;)

  3. I just read through the whole blog and really enjoyed it. (: I think it really makes the updates unique when they are narrated in the first person, plus it gives an insight of the person telling their story.

Nice to see that you have kept up with the tradition to name the first born boys Malcolm in the Landgraab family, though I understand that coming up with nicknames for all of them can be quite a task. :D I'm liking the ones you have come up with for the current Malcolms. (:

I did notice that some of the pictures look a bit modified and was wondering if you are aware that Google auto enhances the photos to make them look "better". It's easy to fix, though: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/30827-google-plus-disable-the-auto-enhance-feature

  4. I love this blog. All your families are really charming. It took me a week to read it all, but it was worth it. I really liked how you used only Maxis content in your game (well, most of the time), because CC... it is just everywhere and Sims looks all the same with it (I am talking about custom skins mainly). But I really liked the storyline and pretty much everything about the challenge :)
It actually inspired me to start my own Prosperity Challenge and my own blog about it. It is my first blog, so I am pretty excited, but yes... It is going to be my personal project probably, something like a diary, because I don't expect many people to read it :)
Anyway, thank you for writing all of this, it's amazing. And inspiring!

    1. Aww, thanks!

I can't use much CC because I play off a 7-year-old laptop. This thing barely runs; if I tried to make it load a CC-heavy game it would probably die altogether.

    3. I am already reading Serenity Valley :) But I like this challenge better I think.
And I totally understand your laptop issues. I had problems with running The Sims 3 on mine and that's why I went back to TS2, but since I found the challenge I am enjoying the game much more than TS3 :)
