Hiatus

It's probably silly to post a vacation warning five months after my last post, but I can be silly if I want to. :)

A couple of months ago my 8.5-year-old laptop stopped reading CDs. Which means I can't load the Sims. :( I was hoping to swing a new computer for Christmas but now it's looking more like it'll be a tax refund present. So I'll see all 2-3 of my readers in a few more months, hopefully.

  1. I'll be around :-)
For me, TS2 does not need a CD anymore. It now loads from the download EA offered some time in 2015 (I think - might even have been 2014 already) via origin. But of course I still have all my CDs, also those of TS1.

    1. Thanks for sticking around. :)

I have no idea if I ever set up an origin account; I've been playing TS2 for a very very long time and my parents used to be rather skittish of anything that resembled "online gaming."

    2. I've been playing TS2 from Day One, too, but I used to work for EA (I was a moderator on the official Sims forum here in Germany) and therefore an Origin account (which is NOT used for online gaming if you do not have online games) was mandatory. It also means that your games (TS2, TS3 and TS4) are always up-to-date when it comes to patches.

  2. Have you considered using a noCD patch (completely legal if you own the game)? I haven't loaded my game from the disk in years.

    1. Can you recommend one? Google has a bunch of stuff but I don't want to end up with 10,000 viruses.

And yeah, considering I legally own the CD I don't really have compunctions about finding a workaround for the fact that I can't use the CD.

I'd regret not posting this sooner but I DID win NaNoWriMo with all the spare time I had from not Simming. :)

    2. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner but I've downloaded from Game Copy World and Game Burn World with no issues. I would recommend you don't visit unless you have AdBlock on but otherwise, it should be fine.

  3. I just happened to pop in here from a google search, but the same thing happened to me a while ago. I contacted EA and they were able to give me the complete digital version even though the free give-away event was over. You would have to make an origins account (I wasn't happy about that either) but once it's installed the game will run without origin on. :)
